John constantine can hold his own. he cannot walk to the end of time like mister e, or travel through the faerie lands like occult, or move about the past like the phantom stranger. and yet, he has his own special charm. he belongs still to the trench coat brigade.

He struts on land amongst real magicians of good and evil and pretends to know everyone's true names. and with that, he has power over the deceivers, and over the true magicians. that was one of tim hunter's early lessons. if you did not know, bluff. but bluffing is an art and like all arts, it needs to be mastered.

Months, years, centuries. who knows how many lifetimes he has spent mastering, learning this art, and all the other arts. and lifetime after lifetime, it seems, there's still so much more to learn. sometimes he fails, at times, he falters, but he has yet to fall. he may never fall.

Comparatively speaking, he is a young bloke. and over the trench coat brigade, this is his greatest advantage. his resilience, his strength, his seemingly carefree attitude about things he should be concerned with are what annoy the other three. but little do they know that this is how he manages to survive unharmed. this is how he learns. this is how he teaches.
